“The things we call failures are not the falling down, but the staying down.” — Mary Pickford

My Story

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I grew up always wanting to do more and always paying close attention to the small details — a habit that has followed me into everything I do.

My journey into tech started in a pretty unconventional way. I was sitting in middle school one day, half listening to my teacher talk about a book, when I opened up my Chromebook and just decided to start learning all the keyboard shortcuts. Back then we all liked to mess with each other — closing each other's Chromebooks was a classic move. But I took it a step further and learned how to log people out remotely. From there, curiosity took over. I found my way to W3Schools and started learning basic HTML. I fell in love with it immediately.

In high school I started tinkering more seriously and decided I wanted to pursue Computer Science. But high school also introduced me to my next passion — Photoshop. In my graphic design class I fell in love with editing and creating things visually. One of my favorite assignments was when my teacher had us make a fake The Onion-style article and we had to Photoshop a convincing fake image to go along with it. That combination of creativity and technical skill stuck with me.

Today I am studying Computer Science at DePaul University with a minor in User Experience Design, and enrolling in a combined Master's program in Data Science. I am always working on something — whether it is a game, a website, a design project, or a new recipe in the kitchen. I believe that the best work comes from staying curious, paying attention to detail, and never staying down when things get hard.
